Our "Major Service" for D Series vehicles is as follows:

(1966 model year onwards for DS, 1967 model year onwards for ID)

Change engine oil and filter

Check steering and suspension joints

Grease all nipples

Grease rear suspension pushrod balls

Change gearbox oil

Drain and renew coolant

Check all other fluids, including battery, and top up as necessary

Check tyre condition and pressures, including spare

Renew fuel filter 

Check air filter, service as necessary

Replace spark plugs

Replace points and condenser, reset ignition timing

Check drive belt condition and tension

Check clutch linkage and adjustment. Lubricate and adjust as necessary 
(manual transmission only)

Change hydraulic fluid and clean filter in reservoir

Clean battery terminals

Adjust tappets

Check for fluid leaks and report.

Visually check brake pad and disc condition

Adjust parking brake

Clean and adjust rear brakes

Lubricate door catches and locks

Check operation of lights, wipers, washers and horn

Check warning lights

Adjust headlight aim

Road test

Adjust idle speed and mixture (carburettor cars only)

Perform basic adjustments to clutch and gear change system (semi auto only)

This costs approx £420.00 +VAT including service parts/fluids and labour. 

(price will vary slightly depending on the individual vehicle’s requirements)

A Major Service should be performed every 24,000 miles or 3 years, whichever comes first.

A Standard Service should be performed every 6,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first.
